SINGAPORE - Singapore's manufacturing sector may be heading towards some dark clouds in 2012. Analysts said with no euro zone resolution in sight, exporters can expect a painful six months ahead. This is because of expected slower demand for electronics from the developed countries and potentially lower revenues as well. United Overseas Bank senior economist Alvin Liew said: "We have a very small domestic base so whatever manufacturing output that we produce onshore, it is largely to be exported and we will be at the mercy of external demand." In its recent Economics Markets Strategy report, DBS said it expects manufacturing to contract half a per cent next year, from an expansion of 7.9 per cent this year.
