A sudden electrical surge on the North-East Line caused a train heading towards Punggol to stall for about 10 minutes at about 7.30pm on Monday night. -- ST PHOTO: LAU FOOK KONG By Daryl Chin A sudden electrical surge on the North-East Line caused a train heading towards Punggol to stall for about 10 minutes at about 7.30pm on Monday night. Train operator SBS transit said passengers were asked to disembark at Hougang MRT station as a safety precaution. Announcements were also made to commuters and the affected train was sent back to the depot for checks.
