TACKY but terribly loveable garden gnomes living out Shakespeare's greatest love story while frolicking and prancing around to the chart-topping tunes of Elton John - what's not to love? It must be said that the gnome lover in this reviewer was primed and ready for this rather bizarre take on Will's famous tale of young, forbidden love, played out between feuding blue and red garden gnomes. With its tongue placed firmly in cheek, Gnomeo & Juliet is a little wacky, a little odd and entirely peculiar. It's an enjoyable little movie. Especially with a stellar voice cast that boasts big names and talent: The always likeable James McAvoy and Emily Blunt play the titular lovers faultlessly, the exceedingly dependable Michael Caine (Juliet's dad) and Maggie Smith (Gnomeo's mum) lending thespian cred, as well as Jason Statham, Little Britain's Matt Lucas, Patrick Stewart and even ...
