They are then converted for use as public transport. -- PHOTO: MINDEF By Jermyn Chow, Defence Correspondent SINGAPORE'S old military vehicles which have been retired from active duty are getting a second lease of life in far-flung countries like Nigeria and South Africa. These ageing vehicles, which were used to transport soldiers for about 20 years, are being converted to public 'buses' or 'taxis' that villagers can hop on in remote villages, said motor traders and scrap dealers. They are likely to snap up more of these vehicles cheaply in the next few weeks.
