N.Korea TV shows footage of Kim Jong Il's funeral

SEOUL (AFP) - North Korean state television began broadcasting the funeral of late leader Kim Jong Il on Wednesday, with footage of tens of thousands of troops bowing their heads in the snow outside a memorial palace. A limousine bearing a huge portrait of a smiling Kim led the funeral cortege, which began moving slowly from the Kumsusan Memorial Palace in Pyongyang as shivering crowds wept in the streets. Kim's son and successor Kim Jong Un and other top military and civilian officials walked beside the car carrying the coffin - draped in the national flag and surrounded by white flowers - on its roof. Jong Un, dressed in black and bare-headed and gloveless despite the wintry temperatures, saluted the troops as he walked past.
