Malaysian man crushed to death in oil palm mixer

TAIPING (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A man was killed after he fell into an oil palm mixer at the palm oil mill where he worked in Jalan Taiping in Beruas, Kampung Padang Gajah, here. Taiping police chief ACP Yusof Mohd Diah said Suhaimi Mohd Ariffin, 37, was crushed to death in the 8.20am incident on Wednesday. Suhaimi had been cleaning the machine, which was running, when the accident happened. The Fire and Rescue Department had to be called to extricate the body. The body was sent to the Taiping Hospital mortuary. Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Yusuf Mohd Diah said the case was currently classified as sudden death, pending a finding by the Occupational Safety and Health Department. 'The department has sent its officers to inspect the machine at the factory and until we receive their report, we are classifying the case as sudden death,' said ACP Yusuf when contacted on Wednesday.
