Electricity tariffs will increase by an average of 2.3 per cent for the period from Jan 1 to Mar 31, 2012, as higher fuel prices have resulted in higher power generation costs. -- ST PHOTO: ALPHONSUS CHERN Electricity tariffs will increase by an average of 2.3 per cent for the period from Jan 1 to Mar 31, 2012, as higher fuel prices have resulted in higher power generation costs. The electricity tariff for households will increase from 26.98 to 27.59 cents per kilowatt hour. This means the average monthly electricity bill for families living in four-room HDB flats will increase by $2.30. SP Services reviews the electricity tariffs quarterly based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the electricity industry regulator.
