Have you ever walked into a neighbourhood shopping centre and thought to yourself how it looks exactly like every other mall around? As the joke goes: Shopping centres - you see one, you've seem 'em mall. The recently opened 112 Katong, however, is hoping to avoid this fate by encouraging its tenants to differentiate themselves, whether in terms of design or exclusive offerings. "For example, Golden Village certainly stands out with its Peranakan-inspired design of the multiplex, which is a world-first. Din Tai Fung here is also the first duplex restaurant in its chain," said a spokesperson for Perennial (Singapore) Retail Management, which handles 112 Katong.
