Ms Empinotti was the first of the six Base jumpers to leap off for a 200m glide down to the Bayfront Bridge, with Mr Pouchert following shortly after with a somersault. -- ST PHOTO: KEVIN LIM Six intrepid individuals leapt off the top of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) in quick succession from 8.30am on Sunday, went into a free fall for a couple of seconds and then deployed their parachutes. They landed safely on the Bayfront Bridge, amid cheers from spectators, and posed for photographs. Their feat is the largest attempt at Base jumping here. It is a sport in which people equipped with parachutes jump off fixed objects. Base is an acronym for the four types of such jump-off points ...
