Indian man tries to sell 4-month-old son to pay for drinking habit

(THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Malaysia Nanban reported that police in Andhra Pradesh managed to stop a 25-year-old man from selling his four-month-old son for 300 rupees (S$7.26) to pay for his drinking habit. It was reported that Barath, 25, a painter from Madanapally in Sitturdistrict in North India, had spent all his earnings on drinking and did not give any money to his wife, Anuska. Angry with her husband, Mdm Anuska decided to stay at her mother's house. As he was short of money, Barath went to his mother-in-law's house on Friday and attacked his wife before taking their son with him. He then approached a broker, Arumugam, to sell his son.
