Close to 2,000 DNA samples used in 87 criminal cases need to be re-tested due to overly-strong test solution

Close to 2,000 DNA samples used in 87 ongoing criminal cases will be retested because the test solution used the first time round was 10 times as strong as it should have been. -- ST PHOTO: ALPHONSUS CHERN By Salma Khalik Close to 2,000 DNA samples used in 87 ongoing criminal cases will be retested because the test solution used the first time round was 10 times as strong as it should have been. That stronger solution was used for about 10 months before the error was discovered on August 3 2011. More than 30 prosecutors from the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) scoured records of 278 criminal cases that had been dealt with in court, to identify the ones where DNA had to be re-tested. They concluded that there was no need to retest any of the samples in the concluded cases. Please enable JavaScript to view the comments powered by Disqus. blog comments powered by Disqus
