#pinoy 'Singaporean among 5 JI suspects hiding on Philippine island' - TODAYonline

MANILA - A Philippine military commander said yesterday that at least five foreign Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) extremists, including a Singaporean, have been hiding out on the remote southern island of Jolo. The Western Mindanao Command commander Lieutenant-General Raymundo Ferrer, said that the five extremists roam Jolo island and could help link local Abu Sayyaf militants to foreign terrorist groups like Al Qaeda. That could provide funds and combat training to the Abu Sayyah, who have been blamed for a series of kidnapping-for-ransom cases in Mindanao, as well as in the capital Manila. One of the militants is United States-trained Malaysian engineer Zulkifli bin Hir (picture), aka Marwan - Washington has offered a US$5 million (S$6.4 million) reward for his capture or killing.
