Chinese New Year, also referred to as the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year, falls on 23rd January 2012 and is regarded as the most important traditional Chinese holidays. It comprises a series of celebrations which starts on the first day of the first month of Chinese calendar. The entire New Year celebration period comes to an end with the Lantern Festival which is celebrated on the month’s fifteenth day. Chinese New Year is celebrated in several parts of the world with great fun and merry-making. In Singapore also, Chinese New Year is celebrated with great gusto. There are several events which are arranged at different places in Singapore as part of Chinese New Year 2012 Singapore celebration. People beautifully decorate their house and also enjoy having some special Chinese dishes to welcome the New Year with new dreams and determinations.
