A wise man once said: “There is no love sincerer than the love for food”. No one celebrates that ethos better than Singaporeans who are all too often, already planning dinner before breakfast has even begun! We, Singaporeans do take our food seriously. Good food is an essential component to any successful Singaporean get together. Threaten our food and we would be up in arms! Remember how “Currygate” caused such a furore? Besides the sheer enjoyment that can be derived from a good plate of hokkien mee or a spicy bowl of laksa, good food also has the added incentive of being able to transcend all cultural barriers. I was recently in London and was invited to eat at the +(65)/plusixfive Supper Club (http://plusixfive.wordpress.com/ ), a supper club in London which serves good and hearty Singaporean fare at a decent price. I was immediately intrigued. What was a supper club? ...
