National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan announced the move on Thursday. Next year, the number of HIP projects will be raised to 28 a year, and by 2014, the figure will be 35 a year. The increase is significant when compared with the last two years, when the number had doubled from seven to 14. Mr Mah said that in the next five years, the HIP will be offered to about 60 per cent of the eligible precincts. This means about 160,000 more households will benefit.
