He cited a visit to Jurong Fishery Port last month where he heard that fresh fish was not selling as well as in previous years. Figures from the Agri-Food and Veterinary Association of Singapore (AVA) confirmed this trend with statistics: the amount of fish handled by Jurong Fishery Port dropped by 24 per cent in the last decade. At Senoko Fishery Port, the drop was 32 per cent. Conversely, the consumption of frozen fish has doubled from 17,150 tonnes in 2002 to 34,297 tonnes in 2010.
