Banks, customers should stay vigilant against card skimming: experts

SINGAPORE: Information security experts say the battle against card skimming scams is one to be fought by both banks and customers. And experts say banks need to stay ahead of the game, even as hackers are innovating. e-Cop Group's chief executive officer Walter Lee said: "The continual vigilance and monitoring of the systems and anti-skimming devices must be continually enhanced on an on-going basis. The way to enhance it is to continually check it whether it's vulnerable or not. Therefore, you need to have internal testers or people who are experts to test the systems to try to see whether it is indeed reliable. It is just like accounting audit in finance that we do all the time. "Enhanced level of security normally would include two levels or three levels of security.
