More than 95 per cent of permanent resident households occupy the Housing Board flats they own, said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan. -- ST PHOTO: ALPHONSUS CHERN More than 95 per cent of permanent resident households occupy the Housing Board flats they own, said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan. Few do not, and one reason Mr Khaw gave is that they may be on work assignments overseas. He also said that HDB has to approve the subletting of the flat and that it is valid for three years. 'Approval to sublet flats is not granted automatically or indefinitely,' he said in a written reply to Mr Ang Hin Kee (Ang Mo Kio GRC).
