Man hangs himself out of guilt over loss of friends' work permits
He persuaded five colleagues to join him to moonlight in October last year but all five ended up as victims of a scam. In the process, they lost their work permits, and blamed Roni Miya Rajaul Karim, 20, for their predicament. Roni Miya was also afraid he would be sent back to Bangladesh. On Oct 27, he hanged himself in his room at the Kaki Bukit Hostel. At the coroner inquiry on Wednesday, State Coroner Imran Abdul Hamid said that the foreigner probably killed himself out of guilt over his friends' losing their work permits because of him.
