Trial ends for accused American in Cuba: HAVANA, CUBA - The trial of an American charged with s...

HAVANA, CUBA - The trial of an American charged with subversion in Cuba concluded here Saturday, with the court alleging that the 61-year-old had admitted being "duped" by his former employer, a US government contractor. After the second full day of proceedings, the court declared the trial "closed" and the defendant ready for "sentencing," adding that its "verdict will be made public in coming days," according to an official statement read on Cuban television. The statement also said that during his trial Alan Gross "acknowledged that he had been used and duped" by his company, Development Alternatives, which had a contract with the US State Department. He also accused the contractor of "having put him in danger, leading him to his current situation and ruining the life and economic well-being of him and his family," according to the Cuban official statement.
