Woman faked pregnancy for 9 months, then snatches newborn from hospital

The New Zealand police said a woman faked being pregnant for nine months before snatching a newborn from a hospital and whisking it to a getaway car. Police said 24-year-old Neha Narayan told her partner she was pregnant months before walking into an Auckland hospital on Jan 3 and snatching a two-day-old baby. Narayan made it out of the hospital and to a car where her partner was waiting, before a suspicious nurse caught up with her. The authorities said Narayan has been charged with abduction and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. She has handed over her Fijian passport and has been released on bail. AP
