Financial aid concerns delay Yale-NUS College budget

SINGAPORE - Concerns over financial aid for international students at the proposed Yale-National University of Singapore (NUS) liberal arts college have delayed the release of its budget by over a month, according to the Yale Daily News on Thursday. Initially, a budget decision had been expected in January. The campus news-paper said university officials are broker-ing greater flexibility for international students who will attend Yale-NUS college on financial aid, after learning that international students at the college would be required to work in Singapore after graduation. Under Singapore's Ministry of Education Tuition Grant scheme, non-Singaporean students - including Singapore Permanent Residents - are contractually obliged to work for Singapore-based companies for three years upon graduation.
