Retail sales in November rose 6.4 per cent in Nov 2011 compared to a year ago, the Department of Statistics said on Friday. This is a drop from the 8.5 per cent year-on-year growth that had been recorded in October. Compared to October, retail sales in November slipped 0.6 per cent. The weaker November figures can be mainly attributed to a drop in motor vehicle sales. Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales in November grew 6.7 per cent from a year ago, and held steady from the previous month.
