IT firms ramping up their services in Asia

SINGAPORE: Information technology (IT) firms are ramping up their services and staff headcount in the region this year. This is to help them gear up for the expected pick-up in demand for IT services in Asia. Analysts said the higher demand for such services is fuelled by the strong recovery in the IT services sector last year. One of these firms is British Telecommunications (BT), who are setting up new showcase centres in Asia as the region's economy powers ahead. Since September last year, BT has already launched showcase centres in Beijing, Hong Kong and Sydney. Analysts said these IT firms are benefiting from the higher demand for IT services, partly because many Asian companies are currently in an expansion mode.
