Speaker of Parliament accepts salary recommendations

SINGAPORE: The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Michael Palmer has accepted the recommendations made on his salary by the Ministerial Salaries Review Committee. He said this in his opening address in Parliament on Monday. He also said he received separate messages from the two Deputy Speakers of Parliament, Mr Charles Chong and Mr Seah Kian Peng that they too, have accepted the recommendations on their salaries. Mr Palmer also revealed that President Tony Tan and his predecessor SR Nathan wrote to express their acceptance of the review on their salaries. He added that former Speaker of Parliament Mr Abdullah Tarmugi as well as former Deputy Speakers of Parliament Mr Matthias Yao and Ms Indranee Rajah have also indicated their acceptance.
