Average bus speeds fall due to rise in ridership

Minister of State of Transport and Finance Josephine Teo said that this was most likely due to the increase in daily bus ridership which had grown from 2.9 million in 2007 to 3.45 million last year. With more buses introduced to cater to this increase, buses then have to wait a longer time at bus stops to accommodate passengers boarding and alighting and therefore increasing overall journey time. Average speeds are calculated based on the overall journey time of a commuters including time taken to board and alight a bus. To address ...
