Looking for a job? Companies in SG expected to increase manpower in Q1 2012

SINGAPORE - More Singapore companies are expected to increase their manpower in the first quarter this year, according to a survey by global recruitment firm, Hudson. The survey, which polled nearly 600 executives across key business sectors last month, found that 44 per cent of companies polled forecasted headcount growth in Q1, compared with 42 per cent in the last three months of 2011. Hudson's executive general manager Andrew Tomich said: "Hiring expectations are up slightly this quarter, after a steep fall in Q4. Due to global market uncertainties, most companies are adopting a cautious approach to hiring." Hiring expectations for Q1 2012, however, had fallen sharply when compared to the same period in 2011 where 62 per cent of respondents - the highest figure in 11 years - said they expected to grow their headcount.
