Shark's fin trader defends the industry as legal‎:

By Rachel Scully, Multimedia Journalist The shark's fin trade in Singapore is above-board and legal, according to seafood specialist and shark's fin trader Melvin Foo. The 56-year-old Managing Director and founder of Sineurope Pte Ltd, one of Asia's largest seafood traders, has stepped up to clear the air following the wave of anti-shark's fin activism in Singapore. He says that instead of targeting the shark's fin trade, environmentalists should join hands with traders to campaign against the bigger issue at hand: overfishing. Mr Foo entered the shark's fin trade 25 years ago because he noticed the fins were discarded by fishermen in countries like Africa, India and the Maldives where sharks are caught for meat but their fins are discarded.
