Better taxi service, shorter waiting time for bookings

SINGAPORE - There will be relief for commuters who are frustrated by taxi service standards or the long wait for call bookings during the morning peak period. In a press release yesterday, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that it will, from October, scrutinise taxi operators even more closely: It will extend its monitoring of call-booking standards from 5pm to 11pm on weekdays to include the morning peak period of between 9am and 11am. The monitoring will also be conducted on an hourly basis "to better reflect commuters' experience on the ground" - in Transport Minister Raymond Lim's words - instead of the current three-hour blocks.
