AirAsia X to be sued for failing to disclose full price of airfare

KUALA LUMPUR - An Australian consumer watchdog is suing budget airline AirAsia X for allegedly failing to disclose the full price of its airfares from Australia. The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Thursday that the action undertaken by Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) took place on the same day that AirAsia was launching fares as low as A$99 (S$131) for one-way flights on its new route from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur. In documents filed in the Victoria Federal Court on Jan 17, the commission claimed that only part of the total price for flights from Melbourne, the Gold Coast as well as Perth were disclosed on the airline's website, the New Straits Times (NST) reported yesterday.
