#SingaporeShark: Happy Chinese New Years! Let the festivities begin! Travel Singapore Fun

I always start looking forward to the New Year celebrations when they're a few weeks away because everyone in Singapore starts to buzz with excitement. Chinese New Year is the Chinese holiday, and the city's large Chinese population and impressive Chinatown neighborhood make it natural that the celebration is huge here. When I celebrated Chinese New Year in Singapore for the first time, I was blown away. It's the most important holiday on the Chinese Lunar Calendar, and it's a great time to be in Singapore. In 2011, the Year of the Rabbit begins on February 3, but the festivities last for a month. Our festivities start on the evening of January 15th with the Street Light-Up. People use traditional lanterns light up the main roads in Chinatown, and acrobatic performers take to the streets.
