Malaysian man claims to be worlds 1st trillionaire

New Straits Times Monday, Jan 23, 2012 KUALA LUMPUR - Although he is not listed as the world's richest man, Perak-born Kamal Ashnawi claims he has more than E 5 trillion (RM20 trillion) in his savings. In an interview with Mingguan Malaysia yesterday, he backed up his claims by presenting copies of bank statements from HSBC in London to the reporters, which should enable him to become the first person in the world to be called "trillionaire". Kamal, is the president and chief executive officer of Sierra Petroleum (M) Sdn Bhd. He had in 2005 proposed an oil refinery project in Kedah said. Kamal said he planned to invest in three projects in Perlis, Johor and Kelantan soon. Kamal added that all business would be handed over to SAS Group, a group of former students of Sekolah Menengah Sains Alam Shah.
