THE waiting time for a taxi - both in and out of the city - is now shorter after last month's fare revision, initial data shows. Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew said this in Parliament yesterday in response to a question from MP Lim Biow Chuan (Mountbatten SMC) on whether the long waiting times had improved since the fare revision. Mr Lui added that commuters had also found it easier to call and book a taxi. But he, as well as transport experts, said it was premature to say for sure if the changes will be permanent. Mr Lui noted that it was still 'early days', since it has been only a month since the revision, and it would take more time for the situation to stabilise and the Government to have a clearer picture. This included an idea of how the fares had affected the earnings of taxi drivers. Transport experts said some commuters - upset by the price hikes and thus boycot...
