US committed to Asia-Pacific security and trade, says Clinton - Channel NewsAsia

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has signalled a sustained commitment to Asia-Pacific security and trade, during an address to regional officials in Washington. Representatives from the 21 economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit are working out an agenda for a forthcoming leaders meeting in Hawaii. But the gathering of Asia-Pacific officials has provided an opportunity for Secretary Clinton to dismiss lingering concerns about America's ability to continue being a major player, pointing to ramped up US commitments to regional groupings like Asean, APEC and the East Asia Summit.
