Six members quit Singapore People's Party

Six members of the Singapore People's Party (SPP), including key members of its central executive committee (CEC) who ran in the General Election last May with Opposition veteran Chiam See Tong, have resigned from the party, citing differences in opinion over "party leadership style and party future direction". The announcement comes a day before SPP's Party Congress on Sunday, following earlier media reports of bitter disagreement within the party. The six members who resigned are 1st assistant secretary-general Wilfred Leung, 2nd assistant secretary-general Benjamin Pwee, organising secretary Ting Sze Jiang, Malay/Muslim Affairs Bureau head Mohamad Hamim bin Aliyas, Women's Wing head Mrs Mohamad Hamim bin Aliyas, and SME Businessmen Bureau head David Tan.
