Many mobile users have also complained of shockingly high bills when they use these devices to surf the Internet overseas. -- PHOTO: AFP TELCOS will introduce a free and easy way for people to switch off the data roaming function on their smartphones while overseas, as the Government takes more steps to shield users from being billed shockingly huge sums. The telcos will also have to offer a free service that lets customers limit how much they want to spend on surfing the Internet on their mobile devices while overseas. And they will be required to provide a free service for users to opt out from receiving unsolicited SMSes offering contests and games. These three measures were announced on Thursday in Parliament by Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Lui Tuck Yew.
