Review committee wants more S'poreans participating in arts activities

SINGAPORE: A high-level committee has set out a comprehensive plan to transform Singapore's arts and culture scene over the next decade, from now till 2025. The Arts and Culture Strategic Review Committee wants the arts to be more accessible to the public, with the aim of doubling participation in these activities to 80 per cent of Singaporeans by 2025. It has also proposed more resources to support professionals and amateurs. The committee also hopes to have half the population actively participating in the arts, up from the current 20 per cent. Central to this goal, is to create mini arts centres within the neighbourhood using schools, libraries and community clubs as performing spaces.
