SINGAPORE - Singaporeans have no reason to worry about any tsunamis crashing into our shores, say experts. The shallow waters and the land masses around Singapore make it practically impossible for the island to be hurt by killer waves. In an interview with The Straits Times in 2010, Dr Pavel Tkalich , head of Physical Oceanography Research Laboratory at the National University of Singapore (NUS), said that there was no life-threatening risk of a tsunami in Singapore. In theory, the largest 'tsunami' that could appear in Singapore would reach a height of 0.5m. Dr Pavel said: "If this ever happens, most people would not even notice."
