Non-constituency Member of Parliament Lina Chiam. By Tessa Wong Non-constituency Member of Parliament Lina Chiam has been appointed chairman of the Singapore People's Party (SPP). Her husband, veteran opposition leader Chiam See Tong, 76, remains the party's secretary-general, a post he has held for 22 years. The SPP announced a new line-up of office holders in its central executive committee (CEC) late on Friday night, three weeks after the resignations of six key members. The six included former civil servant Benjamin Pwee, 43, and industrial design manager Wilfred Leung, 36, who had been expected to take over the reins of the party.
