SINGAPORE: All eyes at the Tanah Merah Country Club will be on Yani Tseng where the Taiwanese sensation will begin her title quest at the US$1.4 million (S$1.76 million) HSBC Women's Champions tournament from Thursday until Sunday. Just 23, the world No 1 established herself as the new face of women's golf after winning an impressive 12 tournaments last year - including the LPGA Championship and Women's British Open among the seven victories on the LPGA Tour. With 23 tournament wins since turning professional in 2007, Tseng started the new season with a victory last Sunday at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Her dominance on the women's tour inevitably draws comparisons with golfing legend Annika Sorenstam whose 90 international wins over a 16-year career - including 72 LPGA titles and 10 Majors - made her synonymous with women's golf.
