Research shows two-thirds of breakfast cereals contain too much sugar

Should your Kellogg's cornflakes be placed in the "chocolates/sweets" section of your supermarket? Consumer group Which? seems to think so, considering the high sugar content of some of the world's most popular breakfast cereal. The group said that Kellogg's Frosties have the highest sugar content of the 50 cereals it tested, with 37 grams of sugar per 100g of cereal. In total, Which? found that 32 out of the 50 cereals had excessive sugar in them. It defined excessive as more than 12.5g per hundred. Of the cereal brands aimed at children, 12 out of 14 were found to contain too much sugar. However, new research from Which? also found that salt levels have reduced significantly in recent years.
