Neighbourhood schools are good too, says Education Minister Heng Swee Keat

Education Minister Heng Swee Keat said on Thursday that he would give details about the study of the Primary 1 registration process in due course. In the meantime, he wanted to assure parents that all schools are good, including neighbourhood ones. The Straits Times reported on Thursday that the Ministry of Education (MOE) is studying how to improve the Primary 1 registration scheme, which has been criticised for giving too much priority to children with connections to a school. MOE said reviews of the registration framework are done regularly, taking into consideration public feedback.
