Third DBS ATM hit, bank declines to reveal location (via ST iPhone App)

DBS told The Straits Times that investigations showed the gang had compromised a third machine in addition to the two in the Bugis Street area that were hit in the January incident. --ST PHOTO: JOYCE FANG By Robin Chan The criminals who stole money from 17 DBS Bank customers last Sunday skimmed the card details from a different machine than the two Bugis ones used in the $1 million fraud last month, raising fears that the scale of the ATM fraud is wider than was thought. DBS told The Straits Times on Friday that investigations showed the gang had compromised a third machine in addition to the two in the Bugis Street area that were hit in the January incident. They were tampered with 'around the same time' at the end of last year. From the patterns of withdrawals by the 17 affected customers, DBS was able to pinpoint the affected machine.
