By Nisha Ramchandani The Business Times Saturday, Feb 25, 2012 Visitor arrivals from China, Singapore's second-largest source market, could grow at a more moderate pace this year, given slower GDP growth in China and a strong Singapore dollar - after a sizzling 35 per cent spurt in 2011. According to preliminary estimates recently released by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), visitor arrivals from China grew 35 per cent year on year in 2011 to 1.57 million. For the period spanning Jan-Sept 2011, visitor arrivals from China were up 39 per cent at 1.23 million. Data for Q411 has yet to be released by STB. China is Singapore's second-biggest market for visitor arrivals, accounting for nearly 12 per cent of the estimated 13.2 million tourists that came to Singapore's shores last year, trailing only Indonesia (2.59 million).
