Naked video chats: 6 nabbed for blackmail, including girl, 17

A 17-year-old girl was among six people who were arrested by the police yesterday (Feb 28) for allegedly extorting about $100,000 from at least five victims by threatening to release videos of them in the nude. The victims were believed to have met the teenage girl in Alamak.com, an online chatroom, where she would get them to strip in front of their webcam after doing the same for them. Unknown to the victims, the compromising videos were apparently recorded by the teenager's boyfriend, who threatened to release the footage online unless they transferred money into a bank account. The ruse was exposed after one of the victims, a 22-year-old man, lodged a police report after having paid at least $97,000 over a nine-month period.
