SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) search team has returned to Singapore on Thursday. The SCDF said the five search specialists and five search dogs left Japan on Wednesday morning. The officers, from the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) contingent, were sent to Japan on Saturday, one day after northeast Japan was hit by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake. The team, along with Search Platoon Commander Major Tan Loo Ping, were received by Minister of State for Home Affairs and Education Masagos Zulkifli. SCDF Commissioner Peter Lim and Japanese Ambassador to Singapore Mr Yoichi Suzuki were also present. SCDF said Mr Suzuki expressed his thanks to the team.
