US-Pakistan ties strained after deadly drone strike

WASHINGTON: Just as tensions between the United States and Pakistan seemed to have eased, a new row has blown up. Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Kayani, has lashed out at a deadly US drone strike in North Waziristan, calling it "unjustified and intolerable" and comes just as Washington is looking to move on from a damaging rift with Islamabad over a CIA contractor, who killed two Pakistanis. Raymond Davis was released by a court in Pakistan, after "blood money" was paid to the victims' families. Angry reaction on the streets of Pakistan is just one sign to experts here in Washington that the release of Raymond Davis won't end the matter.
