SINGAPORE - Electronics buffs may see the supply of Japanese gadgets crimped in the coming months, as Canon, Nikon and Sony reported damage to their equipment and buildings in last Friday's devastating earthquake and tsunami. On Friday, MediaCorp visited seven camera shops in Sim Lim Square, Burlington Square and Peninsula Plaza. Sales staff said that while stocks are still available, supply will be tight in the coming months. Prices may also rise between 10 to 15 per cent. The new range of Fuji Finepix X100 digital cameras, for instance, was due to arrive at the end of March, said Mr Vincent Tan, retail manager of Cathay Photo Store at Peninsula Plaza. But Cathay Photo's agent can no longer confirm when the shipment will arrive. The supply of some Canon lenses to the store is also likely to be affected, said Mr Tan.
