Frenchman's big plans for Sports Hub

SINGAPORE - For three years, Philippe Collin Delavaud kept tabs on the progress of the Sports Hub project. From the moment the bidding process started in 2005, he has followed the news. Like many Singaporeans, he was wowed by all three bids for the world's largest Public-Private-Partnership project. He knew the Singapore Sports Hub consortium were given the nod in 2008, and the Frenchman was intrigued that a facility with the centrepiece a stadium capable of seating 55,000 people was being planned without a football club ready to call it home. Usually, such facilities are built only when a country is set to host the Olympics or Asian Games, or the Commonwealth Games or football's World Cup. Instead, Singapore's Sports Hub, estimated to cost around S$1.33 billion, would be dependent on a year-round calendar of events in sports, entertainment and lifestyle activities annuall...
