SIA is now turning round from Tokyo's Narita airport within one hour, instead of having crew members stay overnight there. -- PHOTO: BLOOMBERG SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) is now turning round from Tokyo's Narita airport within one hour, instead of having crew members stay overnight there. This is to ensure that the crew has sufficient rest, as aftershocks are still experienced there, said SIA on Friday. The flight will carry a second set of crew members, who will operate the flight back to Singapore. There are no changes to the departure time for the flight back. This arrangement will last until next Tuesday. Also, a larger aircraft, which can accomodate about 50 more passengers, will be utilised for three days, until March 21, starting March 19 for flights from Tokyo's Haneda airport to Singapore. SIA said it is to cater to increased demand.
